PAST EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Mr. Rice formerly served as the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Men's Services for the Center for Fathers, Families, and Workforce Development, a non-profit in Baltimore City.  He holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore with a specialization in Corrections.  Mr. Rice also is currently employed as an Adjunct Faculty member in the University of Baltimore’s Division of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Social Policy  He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Public Health degree at Morgan State University.
Mr. Rice's past employment experience covers a great cross-section of diverse areas within the Human Services arena.  While working for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services Mr. Rice was given the task of reunification of families.  He would often assist in devising treatment plans for parents in efforts to strengthen the fragile family unit.  As an Addictions Counselor III within the Maryland correctional system, Mr. Rice worked with incarcerated inmates teaching classes in Moral Problem Solving and Relapse Prevention.  Working in corrections exposed Mr. Rice to low-income non-custodial fathers who were in need of support services (i.e. ongoing substance abuse treatment, domestic violence counseling, child support arrearage issues, and access to children concerns).  He actively pursued resources to meet the fathers’ needs.
Mr. Rice has also studied juvenile justice policy and worked with at-risk youth at Edgemeade at Focus Point Secured Treatment Center.  He frequently speaks to youth within the community in efforts to motivate them in making better decisions in life and to inform them of the responsibilities of parenthood.   During his tenure at the Maryland Department of Human Resources he rose to the rank of Deputy Director within the Office of Community Initiatives.  Mr. Rice was charged with the overall operations for all initiatives, primarily the father-focused programming.
Prior to his entry into the human services arena Mr. Rice acquired extensive experience in the field of private security and loss prevention.  In his role as a Customer Services Supervisor for CES Security he provided oversight for multiple/diverse client contracts (i.e. retail, private sector, and public sector sites in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Howard County) and ensured officer compliance with company policy.  He has provided excellent security services for exclusive retirement communities such as Oak Crest Village (Senior Campus Living) in Parkville, Maryland and Brightwood Retirement Community in Lutherville, Maryland respectively.  Mr. Rice also has received extensive training in the security field and is a proud member of ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security).
Mr. Rice is a past Board Member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (i.e. student representative), current Board President of the Maryland Regional Practitioners’ Network for Fathers and Families (MRPNFF), and serves on several committees that support community revitalization through service.  Mr. Rice is a proud member of the Baltimore Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (active), Keystone Lodge #9-AFAM (inactive) and the Baltimore City College Senior High Alumni Association.  The combination of practical experience and academic training Mr. Rice possesses has empowered fathers and assisted organizations in achieving their desired goals.  Mr. Rice is married and the father of a son and daughter.
  • It is anticipated that additional consulting partners will be hired in efforts to reach SRMS, LLC strategic goals and objectives.
